Combat system is the heart of a wargame. If I want "Bossuelt project" become a good wargame I should make sure that it have an interesting combat system.

In my opinion, an interesting combat system must be easy to learn, appropiate to the period and relatively innovative. With this three prerrogatives in mind I did my first system sketch. It's a system wich don't use dice or cards played as dices, triying to reduce randomness but without avoid undesirable results for players.

For now, I have three main capacities (Discipline, Boldness and Endurance) represented by wooden cubes. This cubes can be exchange from one to other capacity following a simple rules. In addition, every player has some cards in their hands, its number and how they are played depends on what kind of general command the unit. This card could change the position of the woden cubes.

"Bossuelt project" will be a miniature wargaming system for 16th and 17th centuries. This is a long-term project, in the short term I'm thinking to use the same system for a solo/cooperative boardgame focused in an infantry unit(s) triying to resist massive damage during a battle. Something like spanish tercios had to suffer in Rocroi.

Cheers!

¡Saludos!

MY 15 MINUTES (PART 1/2)

March 15th,16th and 17th, I attended to the II Prototypes Meeting in La Almunia, Zaragoza, Spain.

This is a meeting between boardgames creators ( game designers, graphic artists, publishers...) and players to play game prototypes.

I took with me my "15 Days" prototype. It was the first time that I showed it to gamers community... and I have to admit that I was worried. Really, really worried.

I trust in my game, but you know, there was professionals with years of experience there, people who knows a lot about boardgames. I was worried I was not on par with them.
I'm a fool. That was not the point of this meeting.

All was extremely great fun. It was an amazing experience. 45 game lovers talking and playing in an incredible creative and altruistic atmosphere. Nothing I've seen before in any other convention.

I could play some prototypes and the level of these games was really high, surpassing all my expectations. I wrote a review about the games I played in BSK (a spanish forum about boardgames). You can read it (in spanish) in this thread.

About "15 Days", well, it was played three times (that is a very good number of times) and everybody who played it seemed enjoying the game and having some fun. Even some people ask me for my game recommended by others who had played it before. What can I say? I don't know, I just didn't expect that.

In addition, a lot of people gave me useful comments and recomendations about improvables details. I've noted all of them, I swear you.

All this meeting was organized by Ludo (a Spanih game creators association). Thank you for this amazing work. I'll promise you to be back the next year.

So, back in Madrid, happy but tired. What an experience... Now? Back to work? No, this was just the beginning of my 15 minutes...

To be continued
Soy idiota.
